Gemma Socci, 88, Longtime New Canaan Resident

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Gemma M. Socci, a longtime New Canaan resident, died April 26 at Wilton Meadows Health Care Center. She was 88.

Born in New Canaan on May 12, 1923, she was the daughter of John and Louise Tiani Socci. Upon graduating from New Canaan High School in 1942, Socci began working at Conde Nast Publications in Greenwich until the company relocated. She then worked for Pac-Kit Safety Equipment in Norwalk until her retirement.

She is survived by a sister, Domenica Nazzaro of Wilton, and three nieces. Socci was predeceased by a brother, Roger Socci; a sister-in-law and a brother-in-law.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan. Burial will follow in St John's Cemetery in Norwalk. Friends may call at Hoyt Funeral Home in New Canaan on Tuesday, from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
