NORWALK, Conn. Kristin Hocker, Maplewood Senior Livings new community outreach director, is reaping the rewards of working with families, caregivers and professionals and providing seniors and their loved ones with invigorating lifestyle choices.
Hocker represents Maplewood at Darien and Maplewood at Strawberry Hill in East Norwalk, which have scheduled grand openings for November. Both are locally owned assisted living communities and memory care residences.
According to Hocker, both residences will provide healthful aid, a dedicated staff and exceptional opportunities for residents and families needing assistance with their everyday lives.
Our approach is not just about enhancing the lives of seniors, but working together with the whole family, she said.
Maplewood at Darien, designed after a Newport mansion featuring 66 beautiful light-filled studio and one-bedroom apartments with underground parking, will open its doors to its first residents Nov. 10. Maplewood at Strawberry Hill, opening Nov. 17, is in East Norwalk and consists of 84 studio and one-bedroom apartments. Each community also features sunlit courtyards and sunrooms, gardens, concierge service, spas, beauty salons and a full calendar of social and cultural events.
Services and amenities include on-site 24-hour licensed nursing care in the privacy of residents' apartments, individualized care plans and healthy dining programs with local farm fresh ingredients, Hocker said.
The Maplewood team is made up of professionals with different talents who work together tirelessly to provide direction and guidance for families, so they can navigate their choices, she said.
The Vistas program provides support and experiences to seniors who need assistance in their daily lives. Nurses work with residents and their families to access the residents needs to manage their care.
Tides provides a safe environment for those showing early signs of memory loss, and the Currents program uses an emotion-based philosophy to meet the unique needs of residents with mid and late stages of Alzheimers disease and dementia.
We see our efforts affecting more than one generation in a time where they are experiencing life transitions, Hocker said.
Hocker, a Darien resident for 12 years with four children, began working as the community outreach director at Maplewood in June. Before that, she had been involved in the Darien community and worked in advertising and public relations with companies such as A&E Television Networks and PepsiCo in New York City.
Hocker takes great pride in Maplewoods commitment to hire people who are familiar with the community.
