Mental Health To Elder Care: Greenwich United Way Pinpoints Areas Of Need

GREENWICH, Conn. — The Greenwich United Way will present the findings of its assessment of community needs in an event Wednesday, Sept. 14.

Needs Assessment Co-Chair Wendy Blumenthal will cover the needs discovered in the Greenwich community — including youth in crisis, the achievement gap in education, mental health services and older adult care. 

A Q&A with Greenwich United Way representatives will follow the presentation. 

The meeting will run form 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Greenwich Library, 101 W. Putnam Ave., in the second floor meeting room.

The Greenwich United Way Needs Assessment is the definitive statistical portrait of human service needs in Greenwich and an allocation guide created by and organized through the Community Planning Council. 

Established by Greenwich United Way, the council is made up of community leaders, nonprofit service providers, Greenwich United Way board members, and community volunteers to encourage the most effective and efficient health and human service delivery system for the Greenwich community. 

The work of the Planning Council, particularly through its periodic Needs Assessments, has led to the development of some of the most valued programs in Greenwich, including: Kids in Crisis, Community Centers Inc, Domestic Abuse Services at YWCA, Children's Day School and the Transportation Association of Greenwich. 

The Greenwich United Way is a privately incorporated, locally governed, nonprofit agency. As a volunteer-driven organization, it helps identify and address the human service needs in town and to create and affect meaningful solutions. 

Through various fundraising efforts, the organization is able to directly allocate the funds necessary to accomplish this goal. The Greenwich United Way also invests in and conducts collaborative efforts to address broad based community needs with partnering nonprofit agencies.
