FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Samuel Tingley, administrative vice president and group manager for commercial banking at M&T Bank, has been appointed chair of the United Way of Coastal Fairfield County.
Providing work place and academic assistance to people who live and work throughout the area, the Coastal Fairfield branch serves 12 communities, including Bridgeport, Darien, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stratford, Trumbull, Weston, Westport and Wilton.
Tingley formerly served as the group’s vice chairman and treasurer.
“Having been involved with this powerful organization for over a decade, I couldn’t be more honored to serve as its new chair,” he said. “I look forward to continuing my work with the community to make a positive impact on students throughout Fairfield by cultivating a commitment to lifelong learning.”
Prior to joining M&T in 2013, Tingley served as senior vice president at RBS Citizens and a division manager at JPMorgan Chase, where he acquired more than 30 years of experience in the banking industry.
Headquartered in Buffalo, N.Y., M&T operates banking offices in New York, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Connecticut, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
