The festive visual event takes place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Nielsen’s, 1405 Post Road in Darien.

This will be the fifth year Nielsen’s Florist has partnered with Post 53 in support of their vital role in the community. The event has become a new tradition to kick off holiday shopping, enjoying a glass of wine and hors d’oeuvres while making a difference. Last year, Home for the Holidays raised more than $5,000 – with a five-year total of nearly $25,000 – to support Post 53’s important work.

Nancy Herling, director of Post 53, said she is pleased by this long-time partnership. “Home for the Holidays has grown into a festive event that the community looks forward to each year – one that combines the fun of the season with a true spirit of thanks and giving. We are truly grateful to Nielsen’s for the opportunity and look forward to this year’s event.”

As always the event promises to be a holiday shopping extravaganza with Nielsen’s own designers taking the reins in creating festive, unique tablescapes that will be on display throughout the shop.

It’s a truly stunning setting for a holiday party with a backdrop of sparkling golds, silvers and the traditional red and green of Christmas. All the items on display will also be available to purchase, with 10 percent of the proceeds going to Post 53. In addition, this year’s raffle will include a broad range of exciting items including Jet Blue airline tickets.

“Every year we look forward to hosting this event with such a wonderful organization,” said Sandy Nielsen-Baumann, general manager of Nielsen’s Florist. “This year we have some new talent on board to design our tablescapes and we are very excited to see their creations. It’s our honor to be able to continue working with Post 53.”

Tickets for this event are $20 at the door or $15 when purchased from a Post 53 member pre-event. Raffle tickets are $5.
