Adams Findlay, a New Canaan resident for over 40 years, studied watercolor painting first with Mac Squires in Wilton from 1961 to 1965, and then with Edgar Whitney from 1965 to 1975.
Since 1975, Adams Findlay directed her professional efforts to the study of the history of interior design and historic preservation at the Columbia University School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. She was appointed to the Connecticut Historic Preservation Board and served from 1974 to 1984.
Tours of the mansion are offered at noon, 1, 2 and 3 p.m Wednesdays through Sundays. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $6 for children. Children under 8 are admitted free. For more information, visit lockwoodmathewsmansion.com.
