New Canaan's Regional Planning Organization Meets Thursday

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – The South Western Region Metropolitan Planning Organization will meet Thursday, Oct. 23, in Ridgefield to discuss transportation and nontransportation policy, programs and projects that concern the southwestern region of Connecticut.

SWRMPO is composed of the chief elected officials of the region's eight towns of Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford, Weston, Westport and Wilton, and the directors of the region's transit districts. 

The agenda includes important action items regarding the South Western Region Transportation Improvement Program, Air Quality Conformity of Ozone and PM 2.5, and the annual certification of the South Western Region transportation planning program. The meeting also includes information items regarding the new Western Connecticut Council of Governments, upcoming meetings and the opportunity for public involvement.

The meeting will be held at Ridgefield Town Hall, 400 Main St. The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. The meeting agenda is available online.

As mandated by federal regulations, SWRMPO is responsible for transportation policy development, planning and programming of federal transportation funding for the region.

SWRMPO meetings are usually held on the fourth Thursday of every month. The public is invited to participate.
