NEW CANAAN, Conn. – The Eastern Regional-based Robogamers Robotics, a group of young science and technology fans, presented a fun and educational program for students in sixth through 10th grades at the New Canaan Library.

Those who attended the recent workshop were able to learn about how differing materials conduct electricity, how to create circuits, and how it is possible to combine art and technology.

The Robogamers then showcased the robot they had designed, which won them an award at the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Block Party competition.

“The workshop was a fantastic opportunity to share our knowledge and enthusiasm for robotics and hopefully get students interested in the different fields of science, technology, engineering, art and math,” said Remy Young, team captain of the Robogamers, of New Canaan.

Other members of the team are Jane Kaitlin Young, Jasmine Young, Eyan Goldman, and Cal Lavicka.

The group formed in 2011, and has been active in the community ever since. They have coached other FIRST teams, hosted workshops, and produced a series of robotics tutorials.

They have their own YouTube channel, “Robogamers TV,” and the team earned the 2014 NYC Inspire award, Winning Alliance Captain award in robot game, and several other regional and national awards.

For the past two years, the team has participated in the World Championship competition in St. Louis. The Robogamers, founded by Dean Kamen, developed FTC and other robotics competitions.
