Stamford Symphony Ready To Kick Off New Season

STAMFORD, Conn. – Stamford Symphony is excited to kick off the 2014-2015 Season with Opening Weekend Concerts on Saturday, October 18th at 8 pm and Sunday, October 19th at 3 pm. In addition to the concerts, Stamford Symphony will host Prelude, their Opening Night Benefit Dinner, pre-concert at the Palace Theatre.

As an ensemble of professional musicians from the tri-state area, Stamford Symphony musicians perform with some of the metropolitan area’s premier orchestras including the Met Opera, New York City Ballet, the American Symphony Orchestra and the New York Pops. Reviewed by the New York Times as “a major cultural force", one can expect to experience the best of New York City right here at home.

Opening weekend, Stamford Symphony will feature contemporary relevant cellist, Zuill Bailey who is considered one of the premier cellists of the world along with works from bellowed composers Dvo?ák and Brahms. “I love that music brings people together” said Zuill Bailey on an interview with giocosity.com. Outreach is important to Mr. Bailey and is illustrated in his commitment as a professor of cello at the University of Texas, El Paso, as Artistic Director of El Paso ProMusica (Texas), the Sitka Summer Music Festival (Alaska) and The Northwest Bach Music Festival (Washington). Mr. Bailey has made network appearances including a recurring role on the HBO Series “Oz”, NBC’s “Homicide", A&E and HK TV in Japan among others.

Zuill Bailey will join Music Director Eckart Preu on stage for an intimate chat one hour pre-concert at the FREE Behind the Baton Lecture at the Palace Theatre.  He will also make an appearance and participate in a Q&A with the children at the interactive MusiKids program (FREE to all concert-going kids at 2pm on Sundays).

“Everybody has so many choices. It really becomes about the experience you have with the symphony. We’ll do whatever we can to enhance that experience.” Said Karine Jeanneret, Stamford Symphony’s Marketing Director.

The 2014-2015 season is filled with brilliant soloists, new and interesting pre-concert events and of course, the great quality classical music that one expects when they attend an evening with the Stamford Symphony.
