NEW CANAAN, Conn. An authors talk on motherly mess, a program on Korean culture and a chance to make art all day are some of the events planned for this weekend in New Canaan.
Friday
Author Susan Senator at New Canaan Library, Noon.
Susan Senator, author of "Dirt: A Story About Gardening, Mothering and Other Messy Business," will be presenting an Authors on Stage program in the library's Adrian Lamb Room. Silvermine School of Art hosts Draw Until You Drop, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This day of nonstop drawing is an opportunity for continuous, intensive figure drawing with a model or models in sustained poses and still life setups. This program is provided in conjunction with Draw On! a week of drawing in the community hosted by the Aldrich Museum. Call the school office at 203-966-6668, Ext. 2 for more information or to register. The event is $30 for the entire day and $15 for a half day.
Program on Korean Spirit and Culture at New Canaan Library, 1 p.m.
This multimedia program brings to life Korea's cultural heritage, from its colorful history and modern traditions to its art, music and food. After viewing a presentation, which includes two short documentary films and a re-enactment of a traditional wedding ceremony, participants will enjoy traditional Korean dishes and desserts prepared by members of the Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion Project. Works of art, including paintings, objects and costumes, will be on display.

Reception for Sky Papes Brushless Art Exhibit opens at New Canaan Library, 3 p.m.
New York artist Sky Pape will exhibit at the library through May 6 in the H. Pelham Curtis Gallery. Pape was born in Canada and attended Queen's University before moving to New York City, where she studied at Parsons School of Design and the Art Students League of New York. Pape exhibits widely in the United States and internationally, and her work is included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the National Museum of Women in the Arts and other public and private collections.
