DARIEN, Conn. – Six women from Darien, Norwalk and New Canaan were honored by the YWCA Darien/Norwalk as this year’s Women of Distinction. This is the third year that the YWCA has awarded women for their service to the community.

The honorees this year were Kate Larson, Betty Jewett, Susan Warren, Gina Zangrillo, Debi Boccanfuso and Niya Wright. Wright, who lives in the A Better Chance house in Darien and will be leaving for college soon, won the Young Woman of Distinction award.

More than 220 people attended the awards ceremony at the Woodway Country Club in Darien. This year’s speaker was Patti Russo, a New Canaan resident and president of the Women’s Campaign School at Yale University.
