NORWALK, Conn. Kate Regan of New Canaan has been granted another continuance of her case stemming from the August 2010 death of an elderly New Canaan man who was struck on the road in front of his home.
Regan, who appeared in court Tuesday, is due back in Norwalk Superior Court on June 7, and her case remains on the trial list, though no date has been set.
The Michigan Road resident is charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and evading responsibility resulting in physical injury or death. New Canaan Police arrested Regan on Nov. 3, 2010. They said Regan was driving a 2008 Infiniti QX56 on Aug. 18 when she struck Krishna S. Jayaraman while he was at the mailbox outside his Oenoke Ridge Road home. He died from his injuries at Norwalk Hospital.
Officers from the State Police Major Crime Unit and forensic technicians assisted on the investigation.
Regan and her husband, Michael, are also facing a civil suit from Jayaramans family in Stamford Superior Court.
