Connecticut Is 12th Most Energy-Efficient State

DANBURY, Conn. – October is National Energy Awareness Month, and WalletHub has released the 2014 Most and Least Energy Efficient States list, with Connecticut coming in 12th on the most efficient end.

The average household in the U.S., according to WalletHub, spends more than $2,200 a year on energy bills. The state efficiency list was based on in-depth analysis, measuring efficiency of both cars and homes in 48 different states.

The most energy efficient states were as follows:

1. Vermont

2. New York

3. Wisconsin

4. California

5. Rhode Island

6. Minnesota

7. Colorado

8. Utah

9. Maine

10. Michigan

11. Nevada

12. Connecticut

Least energy-efficient were:

48. South Carolina

47. Louisiana

46. Kentucky

45. Texas

44. Arkansas

43. Virginia

42. West Virginia

41. Missouri

40. Nebraska

Additional statistics listed by WalletHub included that Utah is twice as efficient as Louisiana in home-related energy efficiency, adjusted for weather, and that Florida is twice as efficient as North Dakota in car-related energy efficiency.
