Brian Moore, 26, of Detroit, pleaded guilty Monday in federal court in Bridgeport to his role in the Nov. 26 robbery of Sidney Thomas Jewelers in the Stamford Town Center Mall.

Moore pleaded guilty to one count of interfering with commerce by robbery, which carries a maximum term of 20 years in federal prison, said Deirdre M. Daly, U.S. attorney for Connecticut.

According to court documents and statements made in court, Moore’s accomplices, armed with hammers, entered the store, using the hammers to smash open a jewelry display case and removing more than $250,000 worth of Rolex watches.

The three accomplices fled with security guards in pursuit. One of Moore's accomplices, Richard Mathew Bailey, was apprehended inside the mall while fleeing.

Moore admitted he helped to organize and carry out the robbery by soliciting others to participate and partially funding it. He also admitted he drove the three men from Detroit to Stamford to carry out the robbery and drove them back to Detroit.

A sentencing date has not been scheduled, and Moore was released on $250,000 bond. On March 12, Bailey, also from Detroit, pleaded guilty to the same charge and awaits sentencing.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Stamford Police Department.
