FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Fairfield County residents can dispose of unwanted prescription drugs safely at drop-off points on Saturday.

Saturday marks National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. Rather than dispose of prescription drugs unsafely, residents in Fairfield County can go to one of several sites Saturday to properly and legally dispose of prescription drugs, according to a press release. 

The following is a listing of disposal sites available Saturday in Fairfield County: 

  • Stamford Police Department, 805 Bedford St., Stamford
  • Bethel Police Department, 49 Plumtrees Road, Bethel
  • Danbury Police Department, 375 Main St., Danbury
  • Newtown Police Department, 3 Main St., Newtown
  • Monroe Police Department, Monroe Senior Center, 275 Cutler's Farm Road, Monroe
  • Connecticut State Police Troop G, 149 Prospect St., Bridgeport 
  • New Fairfield Resident Trooper, 302 Ball Bond Road, New Fairfield.

The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day "aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications," according to the program's website. 

To find a collection site, residents are invited to visit the Office of Diversion Control's website. Residents can also call 1-800-882-9539 to learn more about the take-back day.
