STAMFORD, Conn. -- The tree has been cleared, and the Merritt Parkway has reopened, DOT said.

original story: STAMFORD, Conn. -- The southbound Merritt Parkway is blocked in Stamford due to a fallen tree on Monday morning, the Connecticut Department of Transportation. 

The fallen tree is between Exit 33 for Den Road and Exit 31 for North Street.

With the highway closure, the traffic /is backed up to Exit 35 for Route 137/High Ridge Road.

The closure was reported at 9:50 a.m.

Motorists should expect stopped traffic and delays of up to one hour.
