FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Metro-North Railroad was reducing service as of midnight, with trains slated to run on a Saturday schedule on Friday, Jan. 3, along the New Haven Line in Connecticut due to the expected blizzard-like conditions.
For Friday, Metro-North will operate a Saturday schedule without the trains marked as Shoppers’ Specials in the timetable. Depending on the time of day, this schedule provides about 60 percent of normal weekday trains.
Metro-North made the changes due to the projected impact of an approaching winter storm. The changes will enable Metro-North to provide the best service possible while ensuring its passengers' safety, the commuter railroad announced on its website.
