New Canaan native Curt Casali suffered a concussion and is likely out for the rest of the Major League Baseball season.

  • New Canaan native and Major League catcher Curt Casali suffered a concussion while catching for the Tampa Bay Rays in a game Wednesday night against the Boston Red Sox. He was hit on his face mask by a foul tip twice in three pitches and will likely miss the remainder of the season.

  • It was a rough time for commuters Wednesday when a three-car crash closed the northbound Merritt Parkway between Exits 34 and 37 for more than an hour during morning rush-hour.
  • David G. Liebenguth, 55, of Greenwich turned himself in to New Canaan police after he was accused of using the N-word while disputing a parking ticket in August.
  • A 15-year-old Wilton High School student has been charged in connection with a swastika incident at the school. Later in the week, a second swastika was found in the high school. 
  • Gov. Dannel Malloy ordered increased state police presence along the Metro-North and Amtrak rail lines as well as at Bradley International Airport. 
  • Catherine Miller of New Canaan was awarded a scholarship to Denison University in Granville, Ohio.
  • New Canaan remained ranked No. 1 in the Connecticut high school football rankings compiled by MaxPreps.
