NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- New Canaan's First Selectman Rob Mallozz III is upset with the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) for nonpayment of bills for work the New Canaan Police Department performed on its behalf, according to the New Canaan Advertiser.
Mallozzi III told the New Canaan Advertiser that he is tired of being told by the MTA’s Dexter Tee that the checks, for more than $45,000 owed, are in the mail, said the New Canaan Advertiser.
The money is owed for work performed during August and September 2015. Mallozzi told the New Canaan Advertiser that the MTA keeps providing excuses about why the bills are not being paid. The city's Police Commission Chairman Stuart Sawabini said during an earlier meeting that New Canaan police will not be performing any more extra work assignments until the bill is paid, added the New Canaan Advertiser.
