Man Struck, Killed By Amtrak Train At Fairfield Station

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- A man was struck and killed by an Amtrak train on the tracks at the Fairfield train station Saturday evening, the Hartford Courant reported.

The train originated in Newport News, Va., and was bound for Boston, with 185 passengers and crew aboard when the accident occurred at 6:20 p.m., an Amtrak spokesman told the Courant.

Fairfield police did not identify the victim except to say it was a white man in his 50s, the Courant said.
