original story: NEW CANAAN, Conn. — Metro-North is reporting delays Thursday morning on the New Canaan Branch due to the minor derailment of one car of a non-passenger train in the New Canaan Yard.
Due to the problem in the yard, train service on the southbound New Canaan Branch will originate from Talmadge Hill, Metro-North said on its website. No trains are running from the New Canaan train station, Metro-North said.
Train riders should expect delays of 45 to 60 minutes on the New Canaan Branch, Metro-North said. Customers are urged to use train service on the main New Haven Line instead.
On the derailed train, one car is partially blocking the track leading to the New Canaan station from the rail yard, according to the Connecticut Post.
Aaron Donovan, a Metro-North spokesman, told the Post that no passengers were on the train when one car’s wheel left the track. The car is still standing on the track and equipment will be needed to reposition it on the track, the Post said.
Metro-North will make announcements at stations about changes in service and delays.
