NEW CANAAN, Conn. — After a minor derailment Thursday morning, Metro-North is continuing to run substitute bus service along the New Canaan Branch for the afternoon rush hour, according to its website.

The bus service will make all stops between New Canaan and the downtown Stamford station, Metro-North said. Announcements will be made at stations. Metro-North did not say when train service would be restored.

Metro-North said the morning incident was a minor derailment of one car of a non-passenger train in the New Canaan Yard.

On the derailed train, one car is partially blocking the track leading to the New Canaan station from the rail yard, according to the Connecticut Post .

Aaron Donovan, a Metro-North spokesman, told the Post that no passengers were on the train when one car’s wheel left the track. Equipment will be needed to reposition the car back on the track, the Post said.
