The new Open Family Room is on the first floor of the YMCA and will be open from 4 to 6 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays at the New Canaan Family Y, at 564 South Ave. in New Canaan.

"This room will be available for your use with plenty of books and toys for you and your child to enjoy while you are waiting for your other child to finish swimming, sports, etc.," representatives said.

Teen volunteers will open the room but parent supervision is required. Those with questions, looking for more information or interested in volunteering are asked to contact Davie Cedela at dcedela@newcanaanymca.org.
