NEW CANAAN, Conn. A New Canaan High School senior is facing a felony drug charge after being arrested by New Canaan Police in connection with the theft of an iPhone.
Police said the 17-year-old, whose name was not released because of his age, is charged with possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia and fifth-degree larceny. The boy is being charged as a youthful offender.
Police said they were contacted on Feb. 27 by a 17-year-old New Canaan High student, who reported that her iPhone had been taken on Feb. 23 after she left it with other belongings in a theater hallway.
Police looked at surveillance video and were able to identify a suspect. Police went to the suspects home on Feb. 29 with search and arrest warrants. The $500 iPhone, used syringes with heroin residue, bottles with marijuana residue, a digital scale and plastic baggies usually used to store marijuana were found during the search, police said.
The boy was released and is scheduled to appear on Wednesday in Norwalk Superior Court.
