The sanctuary, which contains a mix of meadows, woodlands, wetlands and a portion of Poorhouse Brook, a tributary of the Silvermine River, is located off the eastern side of Smith Ridge Road, a little south of the turnoff for North Wilton Road, said the New Canaan Advertiser.

Chris Schipper, president of the Land Trust, said the donors are New Canaan residents for more than 25 years and wish to remain anonymous. This is the largest gift to the Land Trust in more than 20 years and brings the total open space permanently conserved and under stewardship to 379 acres, added the New Canaan Advertiser.
