Another winter weather event is causing schools in New Canaan to close for the day. Falling snow and expected ice and freezing rain forced New Canaan Public Schools, St. Aloysius School, New Canaan Country School and St. Lukes School to close Tuesday.
Despite the rough weather, New Canaan Town Hall will remain open, First Selectman Jeb Walker said Tuesday morning. While a few town employees are getting in later and streets are a little slippery, Town Hall should be able to stay open, Walker said.
Walker added that Tuesdays weather will not be nearly as taxing on Public Works crews, who have had to put in many hours on town roads over the last three weeks.
This didnt take too much. We spread some Ice-B-Gone (snow and ice-clearing solution), but well be fine, Walker said.
New Canaan Library will remain open today. The library is expected to stay open until 10 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to accommodate New Canaan High School students studying for exams.
