NEW CANAAN, Conn. — New Canaan will shorten the town's Memorial Day parade due to the rainy forecast and hold the annual ceremony at Town Hall.
New Canaan First Selectman Rob Mallozzi and VFW Commander Peter Langenus said an abbreviated parade route is planned and participation is optional.
The parade will step off from St. Mark's at 9:30 a.m. and proceed down Main Street to St. John’s Place, then up to Park Street and turn to Town Hall.
The Memorial Day ceremony will take place at 10:15 a.m. at Town Hall.
The Rev. Stephen Chapin Garner of the Congregational Church of New Canaan will preside, and William Ruoff will be the guest speaker at the town's ceremony.
