NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Nonprofit organizations looking for space to have special events, classes or other events may want to consider applying to the Grace Farms Foundation, which is accepting applications for its space grant program.

Grace Farms Foundation serves as a nexus for nonprofits by offering the farm as a place where groups pursuing initiatives in a variety of fields can carry out their important work alongside each other. It is its hope the exchange of knowledge between the different group will encourage new ideas and connections to advance shared goals of the Foundation’s core initiatives of nature, arts, justice, community and faith.

The foundation offers two types of space grants -- small and large -- differentiated by the number of people and spaces needed by the organization. Not-for-profits interested in applying for small space grants between July and December 2016 and large space grants in 2017 should submit an online application form at gracefarms.org/for-good by May 15.

In February, 42 not-for-profit organizations were offered gifts of space at Grace Farms, including program space, strategic meetings and fundraisers. Space grants were offered to local, state and international organizations.

“Organizations that have a direct impact on people’s lives are already bringing their work to Grace Farms and meeting each other. The possibilities for encouraging each other and collaborating are already beginning to take shape ,” said Sharon Prince, president of the Grace Farms Foundation.

Future 5, a not-for-profit based in Stamford, was offered a two-day space grant to utilize Grace Farms’ west barn classrooms with SMART Boards for tutoring students.

“Being at Grace Farms completely changed the tone, spirit and energy of our math boot camp,” said Ellen Berube, Future 5 director of students. “From our lunches in the commons to hours spent in the classroom in the west barn, there was a sense of lightness and peace.”
