Norwalk Man Accused Of Stealing $31K In Ralph Lauren Clothing Goes Free

NORWALK, Conn. — A Norwalk man who has been in jail for eight months since he was arrested on charges of stealing more than $31,000 in items from a Ralph Lauren in Greenwich was granted a suspended sentence and probation, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Andre Fowler, 23, had been arrested in July in connection with a Jan. 13, 2016, incident in which he is accused of working with three women to steal items worth a total of $31,485, according to the Stamford Advocate. He had been charged with first-degree larceny and held on bond, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Fowler apologized when he faced a judge this week, and was granted a five-year suspended sentence and three years of probation, and will have to undergo mental health and substance abuse treatment, the Stamford Advocate reported.

When Fowler went into the store, one of the women is accused of distracting a sales associate while Fowler and the other women stole items, according to the Stamford Advocate. Among the items they stole were a $10,000 gown and a $6,000 jacket, the Stamford Advocate reported.
