Norwalk Man Dies After Being Ejected From Car In Route 7 Crash

NORWALK, Conn. -- A Norwalk man was killed after he lost control of his car and was ejected in a one-car crash Tuesday night on Route 7 near the interchange with Interstate 95 in Norwalk, Connecticut State Police said.

The one-car accident occurred at about 8:15 p.m. as Luis M. Contreras, 29, of Norwalk, was traveling south in the center lane of Route 7.

His car, a 2000 Lexus sedan, swerved to the right for an unknown reason, State Police said. The car struck the metal guardrail off the right shoulder that separates the Route 7 southbound ramp to West Avenue and spun around.

Contreras was ejected through the driver side window and "came to rest on the roadway of the Route 7 southbound ramp to 1-95 northbound," said a statement from State Police.

His car ended up perpendicular to the guardrail off the left shoulder of the Route 7 southbound ramp.

Contreras was pronounced dead on scene by Norwalk EMS personnel. No other vehicles or persons were involved.

The State Police investigation into the fatal crash remains open.
