FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Here's a look at the top stories from last week across Fairfield County.

President Barack Obama flew into Westchester County Airport after giving the commencement address at the Coast Guard Academy in New London on his way to a fundraiser at the North Stamford home of philanthropists Michael and Terran Whittingham. Guests paid up to $33,400 each to attend the benefit for the Democratic National Committee

Confusion reigned as Greenwich Public Schools congratulated Central Middle School Principal Shelley Somers for her new jobs as principal at Staples High School in Westport. But the next day, the Westport School District said Greenwich had jumped the gun: Somers is a finalist for the top job but must still meet with the community and the school board. 

Darien was named as Connecticut's best suburb to live in by the website Niche, followed closely by New Canaan, Westport and Wilton as well as Fairfield, Easton and Redding. Norwalk and Danbury were named as two of the top towns to live in. Stamford was named the 44th best city to live in nationally.

New Canaan Police Officer Shane Gibson used the Heimlich maneuver to save a choking person at the Sushi 25 restaurant.

A trio of women from Norwalk were charged with attempted shoplifting at the Darien Stop & Shop. 

A Bridgeport man driving an unregistered car with an open beer bottle between his legs was arrested on drug charges in Fairfield. 

A Bridgeport father charged with manslaughter in the death of his 5-month-old son last year in Norwalk had spiked the baby's bottle with alcohol due to teething, police said. 

Changing demographics are leaving First Selectman Gayle Weinstein to worry about Weston's future.

Fairfield County is booming, with the largest population growth in the state. From 2010 to 2014, every city and town in Fairfield County experienced an increase in population. Stamford alone has experienced 25 percent of the state's population growth since 2010, with an influx of more than 5,600 people bringing the city's total to 128,278 residents.
