NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- The owner of the 1735 house at Ferris Hill and Canoe Hill, said he would rather sell the house and property than have his name associated with demolishing the home, going as far as to drop the price he wants for the house, according to the NCAdvertiser.
The owner, Max Abel, who had applied for a permit to demolish the house to build a new one, had listed the property for $1.89 million, down from $1.99 million, has not had any takers. The house, located at the corner of Canoe Hill Road and Ferris Hill Road, is believed to be one of the three oldest structures in the city, said the NCAdvertiser.
The 8 Ferris Hill Group, a group of residents who are working to prevent the house from being destroyed, have come up with a plan that would keep the house and add a new structure along with it. Abel said he would be happy to do that if the right person stepped forward and says do it, added the NCAdvertiser.
