Fairfield resident Lynette Wagner, 59, died of her injuries at Stamford Hospital, the Advocate said. She worked at the new Henkel corporate headquarters at 200 Elm St., near where the fatal accident occurred at 7:09 a.m. Tuesday.

The 38-year-old Stamford man who was driving the 2016 Dodge Ram van that struck Wagner at North State Street and Elm Street said he did not strike Wagner, and only hit a large briefcase she was rolling along, the Advocate said.

But Police Sgt. Andrew Gallagher told The Advocate: “Witness information and other evidence are leading us to facts that are in the alternative to what the driver told us, as well as our belief that the pedestrian was in the crosswalk when she was struck.”

Lynette Wagner was born in Queens, N.Y., daughter of the late John and Margaret Basile Hanlon, according to her obituary.

She graduated from SUNY Fredonia and received her master's degree from the New School. She enjoyed walking, shopping, dining out, reading and travel as well as time spent with family and friends.

In addition to Tim, her husband of 33 years, Wagner is survived by her son, Zack Wagner, and daughter, Natalie Wagner and her fiancé John Gallucci, all of Fairfield; brothers Basil Hanlon and his wife Elizabeth of Fenwick Island, Del., Gavin Hanlon and his wife Deborah of Holtsville, N.Y., and Courtney Hanlon of Los Angeles; sisters Cynthia Myones and her husband Andrew and Claudette Hanlon, all of Dixs Hills, N.Y.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. directly at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield, with burial to follow in Lawncroft Cemetery.
