Police Issue Alert to Parents After Incident

New Canaan police are warning parents to be on the lookout after a man approached a child in Stamford at a bus stop Thursday morning.

Police said an unknown man approached a fifth-grader on Westhill Road in Stamford between 7:30 and 7:45 a.m. The man was driving a newer model silver Cadillac with an unknown New Jersey registration, police said. The driver asked whether the child wanted to get the car and get a ride, police said. The child said no, and the driver left the area.

The driver was reported as a white man in his 40s, clean-shaven with slicked-back brown hair. Police said the child did not get close enough to get a description of the driver's build or what clothing he was wearing.

Anyone with concerns is asked to contact New Canaan police at 203-594-3500.
