Presentations Scheduled On Scotts Corners Overhaul In Pound Ridge

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- Interested in the future of downtown Scotts Corners? In May, the town of Pound Ridge will hold a pair of presentations on the proposed aesthetic overhaul of the area, which will be funded with a state-approved grant.

The sessions are scheduled to be held at the Pound Ridge Library on Tuesday, May 5, at 7 p.m. and on Saturday, May 9 at 10 a.m.

The proposed overhaul of the downtown will cover streetscapes work and safety for pedestrians and bicyclists. It is being funded with the Transportation Enhancement Program (TEP), a grant of more than $1.4 million that the state's Department of Transportation awarded to Pound Ridge in January 2014, the town notes in its announcement of the meetings.

The town's message adds that the grant covers installation of new crosswalks, sidewalks and street lighting.

As part of the proposed overhaul and for the implementation of the grant, Pound Ridge has a TEP Committee. It includes Supervisor Dick Lyman, Deputy Supervisor Jon Powers, Councilwoman Ali Boak and Louis Fusco serving as a non-town board member adviser.

Several local civic groups and other town government bodies are involved in a related body called the TEP Community Advisory Committee, according to the town. It includes the Pound Ridge Business Association, the Pound Ridge Partnership, the town's Planning Board, the town's Conservation Board, the Pound Ridge Fire District and the Pound Ridge Energy Action Committee. Other participants include the Parking District Advisory Committee and the Green Streets Committee.

The proposal has been changed repeatedly due to input from the committees and the DOT, Boak told Daily Voice. She added that a consulting firm is working on updating plans for the public sessions.

The town invites attendees to give comments and ask questions. The announcement asks that people who are interested in going to confirm their attendance by emailing Boak at aliboak@me.com.
