An earlier story in the News-Times was incorrect about her pilot status. That story cited a Federal Aviation Authority spokesman who gave information to the Associated Press, the News-Times reported. The News-Times and the Daily Voice regret the error.

Ridgefield residents Cathryn “Carey” Depuy and Ryan Adams, both 18, were killed Sunday when the rented single-engine Cessna 150 crashed near Colgate University, where both were freshmen.

Also, National Transportation Safety Board investigator Tim Monville said he had no information about a reported distress call from the plane, the News-Times said.

Depuy graduated from Ridgefield High School in June. As a senior, her teammates on the girls cross country team voted her as their team captain.

She earned her pilot’s license earlier this year.

Adams graduated from St. Luke's School in New Canaan in June with special distinction and was president of the Support Our Soldiers Club and vice president of the Investment Club. He was also a STEM diploma recipient.

Adams earned his Eagle Scout Award, the highest earned award from Boy Scouts of America, in May 2011 at the age of 13. He also attended Nutmeg State Boys State in 2014, and was elected treasurer at the statewide gathering.
