Sandy Hook Shooting Victims' Families Sue Newtown Over Lack Of Security

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Two families whose children were victims at Sandy Hook School in 2012 have filed suit against Newtown as well as the town's school board, citing inadequate security as one of the reasons for the shootings that left 20 children and six adults dead, according to the Hartford Courant.

The lawsuit accuses both the town and the school of failing to provide a secure environment for the children in the school, the Courant said. The lawsuit is seeking more than $15,000 in damages, the Courant said.

Last month, nine Sandy Hook families filed a lawsuit against Bushmaster, maker, seller and distributor of the AR-15 rifle used in the deadly shootings.
