STAMFORD, Conn. Stamford Police interviewed Michael Borcina at his Greenwich attorneys office Monday evening, looking for more details about the Christmas Day fire that killed five people.
The meeting with Borcina came several days after police again spoke with Madonna Badger, owner of the home that was destroyed, Police Capt. Richard Conklin said. He declined to give details of the interviews because the investigation was ongoing.
He said police are looking into whether there were working smoke detectors in the Shippan home. The initial investigation by fire marshals could not determine the answer.
Investigators said embers from the fireplace were put into a bag and left in the rear of the house, sparking the fatal blaze. Police were asked to join the investigation about a week after the fire, Conklin said in a previous interview.
Badger and Borcina were the only survivors of the fire, which took the lives of Badgers parents, Lomer and Pauline Johnson, and her daughters, Lily, Sarah and Grace.
