"We live by the water so I had to go and stock up,” said Martine Strong, of Stamford. “During the last storm, our area got flooded and there was an evacuation sign. I’m not freaking out, but we have to take precautions. We lose power often and do what we can do.”

“I’m buying everything we normally need because I’m afraid we won’t have power,” said Linda Rodriguez, who lives in Rye Brook, N.Y., and works in Stamford. “We suffered during Irene and I hope we don’t lose the water heater again.”

Danielle Baragan from Stratford was not as worried. “I hope it doesn’t come and I’m not that concerned,” she said. “I’ve lived here all my life. It’s God’s will if it’s going to happen. I have young kids but I’m not buying for the storm. I hope everything goes well for everybody.”
