FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Connecticut will receive more than $51 million in federal road repair funds in the wake of Hurricane Irene and the October snowstorm, the Connecticut congressional delegation announced Thursday.
The delegation, which includes Rep. Jim Himes and Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Fairfield County, said the money comes from two grants awarded through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Emergency Relief Program. The funds will help repair and reconstruct roads damaged during the storms.
“These resources will go a long way to restore and rebuild Connecticut after two devastating storms in a row,” the delegation said in a statement. “The funding will provide the resources needed to repair our damaged roads, highways, and infrastructure so Connecticut residents can travel safely.”
