The warning for Northern Fairfield County has been increased to a Winter Storm Warning, which will go into effect from 7 a.m. Wednesday until 1 a.m. Thursday with a total of 5 to 11 inches of snow in the forecast.

Heavy, wet snowfall will impact holiday travel on Wednesday, the weather service warned. Visibility will reduced to a quarter- to a half-mile at times. A mix of rain and snow in the morning should change to all snow by 10 a.m., making driving dangerous.

New snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches is possible, with 2 to 4 more inches in the evening.

The Winter Storm Warning covers most of the interior of Connecticut as well as the Hudson River Valley and northern New Jersey.

For coastal Connecticut, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 7 a.m. Wednesday to 1 a.m. Thursday. The area will see a mix of rain and snow throughout the day, with a high near 40 degrees.

New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches is possible, with another 1 to 3 inches coming in the evening.

Thanksgiving Day will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 37 degrees. Strong winds will drop the wind chill values to 25 and 30 degrees.
