NEW CANAAN, Conn. - Anthony (Tony) Marchelletta, 62, a former longtime New Canaan resident who most recently lived in Palm Coast, Fla., died on March 8 after battling lung cancer in hospice care.
Marchelletta was born Feb. 26, 1950, in Stamford, the son of Joseph and Caroline Marchelletta of Putnam Road, New Canaan. He graduated from New Canaan High School in 1969. He then became a parking attendant in New Canaan and was an auxiliary police officer. He also attended the Connecticut Police Academy in Meriden and was hired as a Ridgefield police officer for several years. He later moved to the New Canaan Police Department. He was also a volunteer firefighter and member of the Knights of Columbus.
Marchelletta was a self-employed owner and broker of Palm Coast Florida Real Estate and Property Management.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Brown Marchelletta; and his stepdaughter, Crystal Rappoccio of Palm Coast.
A memorial service will be held on 11:30 a.m. March 31 at St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan. Hoyt Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Donations can be made in Marchelletta's memory to a local hospice or lung cancer association.
