Luke Gatti, 19, of Bayville, N.Y. on Long Island, was charged with breech of peace and trespassing after demanding a serving of mac and cheese at a UConn campus eatery. He is due in court Tuesday in Rockville.

A video that went viral showed Gatti as he argued with staff and demanded food, becoming physically and verbally abusive to the staff. The confrontation ended as he shoved a manager. Police arrived on the scene as he was wrestled to the ground and arrested.

Gatti issues the apology to the staff (especially to the manager, he says), students and his friends and family, who he says he disappointed.

"When I watched the video a few days later, I couldn't even believe it was me," Gatti says in the video. He admits he was "very intoxicated" when the incident occurred. "What the hell is wrong with me? ... I'm ashamed."

According to police, he had been refused service because he was drunk and had an open container of alcohol.

Gatti is facing breech of peace and trespassing charges.

According to the official UConn police report, the disturbance began at about 9:55 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, in the Union Street Market in the Student Union.

"Federal student privacy provisions prevent UConn from discussing potential discipline cases involving individual students," said a statement from UConn spokesman Stephanie Reitz. "Generally speaking, any UConn student found to have violated the provisions of the Student Code may face penalties imposed by the Division of Student Affairs that range from probation to expulsion."
