Update On New Canaan Warming, Charging Locations

With nearly 1,500 New Canaan Eversource customers still without power a week after the first of two major storms rocked the region, local officials have arranged for warming and charging stations for residents still out in cold.

As of 2:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon, 1,338 of Eversource’s 8,453 customers were still reporting outages, affecting approximately 16 percent of New Canaan residents.

In response, the New Canaan Police Department announced that there will be several stations set up for residents in need. Warming and charging stations have been set up at New Canaan Town Hall, which will be open Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m., as well as the Public Library, which will be open at 9 a.m. The New Canaan YMCA shower facilities will be available until 10 p.m. on Friday night, reopening at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.
