FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — In case you missed it, here are the top stories of the past week in Fairfield County, as reported by Daily Voice.

Wahlburgers opened its first Connecticut location at the Westfield Trumbull Mall. The burger chain is owned by three brothers: chef Paul Wahlberg and actors Mark and Donnie Wahlberg.

Police arrested a 32-year-old man on murder charges in connection with the shooting death of Deon Rodney, who was killed on Oct. 14 in his barbershop in Bridgeport. Police are still seeking a co-conspirator wanted in connection with the killing.

A University of Hartford was arrested and charged with a hate crime after police said she bullied a roommate by spreading bodily fluids on her possessions. The student, who reportedly bragged about her actions on social media, was expelled from the university.

A large storm swept through Fairfield County, knocking down trees and causing hundreds of power outages. Many schools were closed, and some people were without power for as long as two days while utility companies worked to repair the damage.

The founders of the Granola Bar are opening their fourth location in Fairfield County . Julie Mountain and Dana Noorily say that the new location on Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield will open by winter.

A former Bridgeport resident was found guilty of manslaughter in connection with the stabbing death of Francisco Barbosa-Vega in 2012. Mario Chavez had originally fled to Florida, but was found in 2014 and brought back to Connecticut to face trial.

A Fairfield boy going door-to-door selling magazine subscriptions was sent to the hospital after being bitten by a dog . The boy had entered into a fenced yard containing a great dane, police said.

Layla's Falafel opened up in Westport, bringing Middle Eastern delicacies to its Post Road storefront. The Westport location is the fifth in the state.

A 62-year-old Stamford man died after he rear-ended a tractor-trailer on the Merritt Parkway on Thursday morning. Tractor-trailers are banned on the Merritt, and this one had stopped right before a bridge.

CAVA opened its first location in Connecticut this week in Greenwich. The fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant features a customizable menu with more than 50 options.

A 58-year-old Bridgeport man died after jumping from the Yankee Doodle Bridge on I-95 into the Norwalk River. Police had responded to the area on Wednesday night on a report of a jumper, and located his body in the river on Thursday morning.

A pair of Connecticut natives helped the Houston Astros win their first World Series in franchise history on Wednesday. Pitcher Charlie Morton, who came out of the bullpen and got the win in Game 7, grew up in Trumbull and Redding and graduated from Joel Barlow High School. World Series MVP George Springer is a native of New Britain and attended the University of Connecticut.

A new kind of beer bar opened in Norwalk. Spigot Beer offers beer and cheese pairings, with an ever-rotating selection of craft beers.

Redding Police Chief Doug Fuchs was placed on administrative leave following a lawsuit over the department's handling of a suicide. The lawsuit claims that police were negligent in responding to the scene of Peter Valenti's suicide in 2016, and that their actions contributed to his death.

A dispute between a resident and some youths on Halloween night led to shots being fired in a Trumbull neighborhood . Witnesses told police that the resident may have been trying to scare the youths, who might have been tampering with cars parked in the area.
