What's Happening in New Canaan This Weekend

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – A middle school play, a major hunt for eggs and a talk on Jewish books are some of the events planned for this weekend in New Canaan.

Friday

• Saxe Middle School seventh- and eighth-grade musical “BIG, The Musical,” 7 p.m. Saxe Middle School, 486 South Ave.

Saturday

• The Young Women’s League hosts the 39th annual Easter Egg Hunt, 10 a.m. to noon. The annual egg hunt is for kids and adults who want to have fun, find eggs and enjoy the beginning of spring. Waveny Park.

Sunday

• Rabbi Lawrence Hoffman speaks on One Hundred Great Jewish Books, 4 p.m. Hoffman will speak about his latest release, "One Hundred Great Jewish Books: Three Millennia of Jewish Conversation." The event is co-sponsored by the Jewish Historical Society of Lower Fairfield County and Elm Street Books. Hoffman is the Barbara and Stephen Friedman professor of liturgy, worship and ritual at Hebrew Union College–Jewish Institute of Religion in New York City. He is the author of many books, including "Israel: A Spiritual Travel Guide, The Journey Home," and the National Jewish Book Award winner, "My People's Prayer Book." New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.
