NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Creating glow-in-the-dark pillowcases, a traditional farmers’ market and musicals in the park are some of the events planned for this weekend in around New Canaan.

Friday, July 27

Glow-In-The-Dark Pillowcase at New Canaan Library: 3 p.m. Come to the Library to paint a glow-in-the-dark pillowcase to brighten up the darkest night. The program is fun for children ages 6 to 8 in the Children's Program Room. All materials provided. New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.

New Canaan Board of Selectmen Special Meeting: 9 a.m. Among the items to be discussed are a request to perform maintenance and remove trees in 22 different locations and a Public Works Department request for changeovers related to the renovations and improvements to the Stewart Office Building on Elm Street.  New Canaan Town Call, 77 Main St.

Junior Company of the Summer Theatre of New Canaan Presents High School Musical 2 : 4 p.m. Disney’s "High School Musical 2" will be performed, featuring the Summer Theatre’s Junior Company of actors. Admission is free. Waveny Park.

Saturday, July 28

New Canaan Farmers Market: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Vendors will be selling farm fresh foods, soaps, crafts and other treats The Farmers Market is open every Saturday rain or shine through Nov. 17. Center School Parking Lot, corner of Maple and Main streets.

New Canaan Library Manga Club Summer Meeting: 1:30 p.m. The club will meet on occasional Saturday afternoons from June to August to read and discuss manga, watch anime, draw, and learn about Japanese culture. Manga Club is open to those in grades 7 to 12. Email Gretchen, the teen librarian , for more information or to join. New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.

Sunday, July 29

Summer Theater of New Canaan's "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat": 3 p.m. General admission seats start at $20 for open lawn seating and picnics. Performances will be held at 3 p.m. Sundays and 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through Aug. 5. Waveny Park, New Canaan.
