What's Happening in New Canaan This Weekend

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Cocktails and singing to fight multiple sclerosis, a celebration of Arbor Day and a game featuring an undefeated girls lacrosse team are some of the events planned for this weekend in New Canaan.

Friday, April 27

New Canaan Arbor Day Proclamation: 10 a.m. There will be a ceremony and proclamation reading by New Canaan First Selectman Robert Mallozzi III at Mead Park.

Cocktails and Crooning for a Cure: 6:30 p.m. The fourth annual edition of this event is set to kick off at Waveny House, located inside Waveny Park. Robby Bridges from WEBE-FM 108 will host. The evening will feature the music of Dean Martin, performed by Jack Lynn, as well as Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and others, sung by Angelo Ruggiero. The duo will also perform popular songs from 1950s and 1960s. Cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a variety of desserts will be served. Highlights include live and silent auctions and more, including a trip to the 2012 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles.

Saturday, April 28

New Canaan High School Girls Lacrosse: 3:30 p.m. The Rams, who are 9-0, play host to the Pelicans from Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor. The game will be at Dunning Stadium.

Sunday, April 29

Arts for Healing Together in Music Concert: 4 p.m. A family-oriented concert will feature the Greenwich Village Orchestra, conducted by Barbara Yahr and featuring soloist Aly Sun Panici and Arts For Healing therapist Gabriel Lit. The concert will provide an interactive music experience, demonstrating the benefits of music in the art of healing and self-expression. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children and can be purchased at Arts For Healing, 24 Grove St., or at the New Canaan Toy Store. For more information, call 203-972-2982.
