Alton L. LeBlanc, 63, New Canaan Resident

NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Alton L. LeBlanc, a lifelong resident of New Canaan died Friday, Feb. 20, at Stamford Hospital surrounded by his family. He was 63.

LeBlanc was born May 1, 1951, in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, to Janet Sirois LeBlanc and the late Alton L. LeBlanc. He graduated in 1971 from New Canaan High School, where he was an all-sport varsity athlete, after which he became a construction and painting contractor in addition to operating a local property management company.

LeBlanc was adventurous and loved to travel, cook and dabbled in sky diving. He was a "jack-of-all-trades," including golf, horseshoes, boating, darts, men's softball and bowling. He was a lover of all sports and an avid fan of the women's UConn Huskies basketball team, New Canaan High School Rams football team, New York Yankees and the New York Jets.

In addition to his mother, LeBlanc is survived by his siblings, Charlotte (LeBlanc) Merritt of Norwalk, Brian LeBlanc (Gretchen) of Norwalk, Ruth (LeBlanc) Jones (Burton) of New Canaan; 10 nieces and nephews, Jennifer LeBlanc, Patrick LeBlanc, BJ Jones, Adam Jones, Stephanie Jones, James Merritt, Kimberly Merritt, RJ Belladino, Brian LeBlanc and Jack LeBlanc; and many, many friends.

In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his nephew Chipper LeBlanc and his brother in-law James Merritt.

A memorial service will be held Saturday Feb. 28, at 3:30 p.m. in the Congregational Church of New Canaan, 1 Park St., followed by a reception and life celebration at the South Norwalk Boat Club at 17 Mack St.
