Andrew Clark, 33, Formerly Of New Canaan, Founded Food Firm

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Andrew Keating Clark, a former New Canaan and Wilton resident, most recently of New York City, died Aug. 11 in New York. He was 33.

Born Feb. 20, 1979, in Stamford, he was the son of Elizabeth Mansfield and the late Berne H. Clark. He graduated from Avon Old Farms school in Avon, Conn., where he was an accomplished athlete.

Clark went on to attend Bucknell University, where he met his wife, Dawn Dawson, and developed close friendships as a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity. His love for cooking was later nurtured at the Culinary Institute of America.

Following his graduation from CIA in 2005, Clark spent time perfecting his craft in kitchens throughout Europe and New York City. His experiences abroad helped him develop the expertise to co-found Agri-Craft, a specialty food company that provides artisan-raised food to retail and food service outlets.

Clark's family said that he was a compassionate and generous man who loved his friends and family dearly. He was an avid reader who enjoyed traveling and spending time with his closest friends, family and his Yorkshire terrier, Oliver.

Sharing his culinary passion and talents was his favorite activity, and seeing a table full of loved ones enjoying his meals was when Clark was at his happiest. Always the prankster, his family said, Clark's witty sense of humor will be missed.

Clark is survived by his wife, Dawn; his mother, Elizabeth; his sister, Allison Clark, of New Canaan; and his stepfather, H. Stanley Mansfield, of Chatham, Mass.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Congregational Church of New Canaan. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hoyt Funeral Home in New Canaan.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Colon Cancer Alliance or to Bucknell University .
